Workers in Asian Paints Factory continued their strike on the 9th day as talks between the management and the union in Labour Department show no progress. In the meetings on 24th and 26th, the management refused to make any progress on the demands until the workers gave up the strike and signed a ‘goodwill’ individual undertaking that they will not strike in future. Rejecting this, the workers reiterated their demand and said that unless progress is made on these demands, workers will not drop their strike. They also demanded that the management make good on their own agreement on December 3rd meeting when top management of Asian Paints had agreed to consider these demands and improve the conditions of workers at the factory.
In the meantime, workers from other factories in the neighborhood including Renner India, Hyundai, Doowon & C&F continued to extend their solidarity and support for striking workers. In additional to monetary contribution, food materials have been arranged for the workers. The union was conducting classes for the striking workers. The workers said the overall support was keeping the employee morale high.
